Biogas plants can compensate for surplus electricity from renewable energy sources by storing biogas locally and converting it into electricity or heat when required. However, feeding into the natural gas grid often requires additional gas storage capacity nearby due to limited existing storage facilities. The natural gas grid offers a large long-term storage option, but only biogas plants with high-purity methane can use it. Injection often requires expensive gas conditioning, which is only economical for large plants. Without this conditioning, biogas can only be burned with low efficiency and cannot be fed into the natural gas grid. Also traditional raw biogas is riddled with CO\u2082, contributing to its environmental impact during combustion or grid injection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The advantages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Energy storage: Biogas plants can now also use electricity from local renewable generation or surplus grid electricity.
\u2022 Direct feed-in of methane into the natural gas grid: Innovative process enables methane to be fed directly into the natural gas grid.
\u2022 Reduction in gas treatment costs: New process makes conventional gas treatment in biogas plants largely superfluous.
\u2022 Integrated energy: Methane can be used for fuel production or vehicle refueling, increasing economic efficiency and enabling new infrastructure facilities. In addition, the process heat from methanation can be used.
\u2022 Reduction of the environmental impact: Our power-to-gas technology upgrades raw biogas to green synthetic natural gas without emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Sabatier process briefly explained:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

High CO\u2082 content is harnessed in the methanation process, combining it with hydrogen to form methane, reducing environmental releases. This innovative process, also known as the Sabatier process, significantly boosts feed-in-ready biogas production. The missing electricity comes from renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind power plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By utilizing renewable hydrogen, generated through this technology, the CO\u2082 particles react catalytically, creating both usable existing methane and new green methane from CO\u2082 and renewable hydrogen. The efficiency of the biogas plant is almost doubled by this methanation process (from 50 % CH4 to 95 % CH4)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
