Our founder and Managing Director Klaus Schirmer gives an insight into the energy supply of the vacation and leisure area at Bernsteinsee in Lower Saxony. There, our power-to-gas system reliably supplies hotels and ancillary facilities with emission-free energy while using 100% of the PV electricity we generate ourselves – proof of the practicality of decentralized and emission-free energy supply, including efficient and economical storage of green electricity.

The latest analysis from the Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesystme (by Prof. Dr. Bruno Burger) confirms: Renewables dominated Germany’s electricity mix in 2024, delivering a record 62,7% of net public power. Solar, wind, and more sustainables are shaping the energy future.

This clearly show: 2024 and the following years will belong to renewable energies in terms of electricity generation for Germany. With our patented power-to-gas technology and our innovative power-to-X solutions, we are actively supporting the change with our solutions together with our customers and partners and are convinced that we are on the right track!

P2X revolution in Frankfurt

The hydrogen pirates at the VDMA Power-to-X Conference 2024

The #P2XConference 2024, organized by VDMA, was a complete success for us!

Two days full of energy, characterized by the latest insights in the field of Power-to-X: On November 27th and 28th 2024, specialist presentations by experts impressively demonstrated how Power-to-X can sustainably transform our energy system and make it fit for the future with innovative concepts and groundbreaking solutions! Complemented by intensive networking and the resulting productive discussions, the event was another source of inspiration for us.

The conference covered a diverse range of topics: From new technologies for power-to-liquid plants and the intelligent use of CO₂ as a resource (CCS/CCU) to the integration of high-temperature electrochemistry in hydrogen and energy production. With these forward-looking approaches, the conference became an indispensable platform for exchanging information on the latest developments in the field of Power-to-X.

On the second day, our Managing Director Martin Weiss was also actively involved in an exciting session: Together with Manfred Wörl (ABB), he presented new perspectives and approaches to eFuel production in modern energy factories.

A big thank you at this point to Manfred Wörl for the valuable cooperation – it was great fun to take a closer look at this topic together and present it to the guests! Thanks to Thomas Michaelis, Michael Herrmann and the entire VDMA team, whose excellent organisation made this event something very special!

Hydrogen Technology Expo 2024

On October 23, Dr. Elgar Fokkens and Klaus Schirmer visited the leading trade fair for all hydrogen and Power-to-X experts and enthusiasts in Germany: Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2024 in Hamburg.
Here you can feel the drive and the will for technical transformation that is unfortunately so often missing in day-to-day business!

Across four exhibition halls, we were able to hold exciting discussions, discover cutting-edge technologies and experienced the motivated energy of the industry players up close. One day was definitely not enough to take in the entire spectrum of this trade fair!

Special thanks to our cooperation partner ABB AG – especially Atakan Özcay and Manfred Wörl – for the interesting discussions at your outstanding stand.

The potential of synthetic natural gas

In order to fulfill the increasing demand for emission-free energy, Germany will also have to rely on imports of hydrogen and synthetic natural gas (SNG).

These imports contribute to Germany’s energy security, but the local production of SNG also offers advantages such as:
• 100% utilization of own locally generated green electricity
• avoidance of transportation and adaptation costs
• reduction of dependencies on volatile international energy markets
• reduced emissions through the use of existing infrastructure and short transportation routes

Synthetic natural gas from green energy can be produced locally in Germany, store large capacities of energy and make it available for use. In this way, forced feed-ins of green electricity or shutdowns of wind and PV systems can be avoided. This increases the yield when generating green electricity and reduces the load on the electricity grids.

As SNG is purer than fossil natural gas due to its production method, it can even be combusted emission-free and thus serve as a source of CO₂. SNG thereby combines the advantages of carbon capture and storage as well as utilization.

Japan is pursuing a strategy of switching its existing natural gas network almost entirely to synthetic natural gas by 2050. The use of synthetic natural gas would therefore also allow Germany to compensate for delays in the ramp-up curve of pure hydrogen supply without losing speed in decarbonization.

Productive Meetings at Hannover Messe 2024

Back in april we were at the Hannover Messe 2024, one of Europe’s biggest industrial trade fairs.

Their we had fruitful discussions with PERIC – Hydrogen Technologies Co. Ltd. and CSSC (China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd.), exploring future collaborations in the hydrogen and energy sectors. This meeting showcased innovative global ideas and provided valuable insights into the latest industry trends of other countries.

We are looking forward to exchanging our innovative ideas in the future and gaining our interactions with these two companies highlighted the potenial of international cooperation to drive advancements in hydrogen technologies.
