Over six years ago, a visionary project was launched with the aim of ensuring a sustainable and independent energy supply for the hotel and vacation area on Lake Bernstein. The idea behind it: To convert surplus solar energy from the photovoltaic systems on site into synthetic natural gas (SNG) using power-to-gas technology and make it usable for long-term storage.

Our Power-to-Gas Summit on 5 September 2024 at Lake Bernstein brought together experts and political stakeholders to discuss the sustainable energy future. A highlight was the awarding of power-to-gas certificates to Japanese partner GPSS Engineering, which emphasised CYTOK®'s international presence and technological significance. State Secretary Frank Doods and other high-calibre speakers highlighted the opportunities and challenges of the technology. A guided tour of the plant showed how surplus PV electricity is converted into synthetic natural gas and utilised in a CO₂-neutral way.
